The importation of honey can cripple the local honey industry
1) Introduction of diseases that can destroy our honeybee population and the effects on our Eco system
2) Introduction of adulterated honey and the affects on people
3) The importation of foreign honey flooding the market, will impact badly on local supply and demand

I am against the importation of honey without proper facilities to test for diseases and pathogens that can be very destructive to our industry , beekeeping community and by extension our ppl. Who will be placed directly in harms way from fake fraudulent and adulterated stuff (can’t even call it honey) there’s examples around China for one has been banned from exporting whatever they call honey because it not real

There is a surplus in the supply of honey in T&T, why do we need to import. Support our local , reduce the food import bill.

If the importation of honey to Trinidad is allowed it will devastate local beekeepers and open the public up to the introduction of laundered honey from china and South America including fraudulent honey look alike products

Let's not make ourselves a global consumptive dump for everyone's products many of which we can produce ourselves, save or earn foreign exchange and engage constructive and productively the thousands of underutilized human resources who leave the Secondary School system every year to idle on the block and get into criminal activities.

My take is i am a small beekepper and knowing how much i invested already. Now to think its all going to be a loss of investment. And now to learn of the amount of other family livelyhood this would also impact on. This goevernment really dont care of we the citizens

Some shortsightedness can cripple the bee population as there is more than meets the eye on opening up the sector for importation of honey. We won't want to have an epidemic ( american foul brood) entering the country , then to now be looking to see how to eradicate it. Let's treat it as how the ministry of health treated the covid 19 pandemic.

It is time farmers are equipped to meet the international standards our competitors uses to their advantage to get into the market. Support local should be more than a slogan. MoA has to become more involved with the small farmers. To support us you have to understand and harness what we have to offer
