My family have made great use of these facilities over the years and have gone on as the children have grown to become ever more familiar with the beacons. Without the initial use of these sites and access to useful information, I dare say that our visits to the beacons would, over time have been less frequent and possibly become non-existent. Libanus and the waterfalls are great gateways into discovering what the beacons has to offer and I feel finding further ways to exploit the opportunity to introduce and educate people about the beacons would be more beneficial than losing such fantastic resources

A very busy place that with a good plan can have a sustainable and cost effective future. Closing down or reducing service is rarely conducive.

how incredibly short sighted ! surely this is a jewel in the crown of the BBNP ! The Board of BBNP need to find a sustainable and creative way to keep this centre open - closure is not an option !

The Mountain Centre at Libanus is a favourite destination for visitors and locals alike. It is a retrograde step to close it down and just have a cafe.

Well they are closing an office ( im not sure where ) and moving the office staff to the visitors centre. After tens of thousands being spent on changing it to offices ....and the essentials such as heating etc added. So in their mind it's one less office place to rent. Thats it , thats the reason . Please share to anyone you believe would be interested.

National Parks are an integral part of the British countryside and closing the centres is extremely short-sighted. They are essential for the education of visitors and for the local economy.

The centre fulfills a fundamental role in delivering one of the main purposes of the National Park Authority. It is understandable that difficult decisions need to be taken at a time when government sees the 'environment' and 'the arts' as dirty words and funding is cutback to the bone. It would however, be a very retrograde step to consider the centre's closure. What's needed here is inspirational leadership that explores alternative measures and not the easy route of simple closure. To keep the building just as an office complex and tea room is quite bizarre as the day to day running costs and maintenance would remain the same. Perhaps the proposal is more of a staff reduction measure?? Wayne Evans, former employee at BBNP

Love visiting this centre. They also provided an amazing experience when my class visited and learned about the Cells. This closure would be a big loss.

Beautiful place with people who know the area giving advice and guidance. How do you get more money into a National Park when so much is being cut elsewhere? Get the health and wellbeing agenda and recognise the difference the outdoors make to people with health issues. The Mountain Centre is so accessible to everyones needs. So important.
