Our family have enjoyed this centre for many years. It has provided us with valuable information on the Beacons which have encouraged us to walk and use the local environment.A GREAT CENTRE

The centre inspires so many, especially youngsters to learn about the environment and get out to explore the Brecon Beacons area.

To close the visitor centres is a very short-sighted policy. It will also have a detrimental effect on the money-making potential of the tea rooms. I support the petition to keep these centres open and to use them to their full potential.

The mountain centre is a great place to visit with visitors and especially with kids. I could look at the relief map for ages!

Rather than ending the funding and converting the centre into offices, I believe a more reasonable long term approach would be to help the park centre to attract visitors, generate income from suitable events, and encourage a sympathetic enjoyment and understanding of our natural heritage. This approach would be more in keeping with the ethos of National Parks. South Wales, like other industrial and post-industrial areas, particularly needs a managed and protected wilderness area, and without the park centre to advise, inform and integrate the park within the wider local community, I believe the Brecon Beacons will be less effective in performing its important role.

The proposed closure of the information centre and shop will undoubtedly have an impact on tourism and a knock on effect on local economy. Surely there must be funding out there to keep the wonderful facility open for visitors and children in particular to learn about the most beautiful breathtaking scenery and wildlife that Wales has to offer? What are the Welsh Government doing ? Why hasn't there been robust fund raising to ensure the centre's long term sustainability ?

Yet another valued public service and the expertise of its staff is threatened. Libanus Visitor Centre as a whole is a centre of excellence to be proud of. To diminish it to just another tea room—albeit excellent—and lose the advice and service of its experienced staff would surely reduce the overall understanding, appreciation and appeal of the park for tourists, with resulting loss of income for the whole area. I do earnestly hope ways can be found to maintain this jewel in the Brecon Beacons National Park Park's crown.
As for the Waterfalls Centre at Pontneddfechan, most of the above comments also apply. The centre surely enhances the appeal of the Geopark to tourists, with its informed staff, excellent range of literature, maps and displays. My observation is that visitors will routinely enquire about access to the falls and then ask about accommodation. Again, that personal service is surely of benefit, without which there would be a loss to the local economy and to the general standing of this Geopark.
