
Bay Street zoning


Protecting the property value of my home and preserving the historic residential character of the Hattiesburg Historic Neighborhood (HHN) is important to me. Maintaining residential zoning for all land currently zoned residential within the 23-block area of HHN will help achieve these outcomes. I own property within or live in the HHN. I want the zoning of 314 Bay Street to remain R1B which permits single-family residential uses with related recreational, religious, and educational facilities. I also support the City Planning Commission's recent decision to change the designation of Bay Street (between Hall Avenue and Gordon's Creek) to Neighborhood Conservation District 1 in the 2008-2028 Future Land Use Plan as this reflects past, present, and future character of the HHN.
