Batala represents everything I love about calling Durham my home of over a decade. They are not breaking the noise ordinance laws and the actions the police have taken appear to be racist in nature and against everything that makes Durham the inclusive and diverse city I love. Keep the music and the culture alive! The time is now.

I believe that the new people living in and around Central Park should be living there to experience what happens in and around the park, not try to change it to suit their needs.

Please allow Batala Durham to continue practicing in Central Park. Music and culture is a good thing for our community, and the overwhelming majority love hearing them practice. They are not breaking any rules and don't play too late. This is a community space that hosts music, the market, outdoor movies, screaming children... why is this getting singled out?

Batalia should not be silenced or prevented from practicing at DCP. People who are bothered by the rehearsals should buy some earplugs or consider another place to live if downtown is too noisy for them.
