It is groups like Batalá Durham that make me return to Durham over and over again, because I can't resist the city's vibrant and diverse art scene. People in the new developments had to have been aware that they were living in an urban environment where there are performances and excitement in outdoor spaces. The expectations of the few people complaining are simply out of alignment with the community where they now live. Please keep Durham real. I want to keep visiting.

I strongly support Batala as an organization that exposes Durham residents to historic Brazilian culture; and percussion deeply rooted in West Africa. Practices that are accessible to the larger community are a blessing to Durham residents,

Keep my town loud, messy, and vibrant. Ear plugs are cheap and I'd be willing to buy some for any grumps.

Still work in Durham although I recently moved to Chapel Hill after 10 years in the D, 3 of them right next door to Central Park in Old North Durham...I hope fun groups like this are doing their thing next time I come downtown to hang out

Let's keep Durham vibrant and artistic. People who choose to move to our funky, fun, exciting downtown are welcome to enjoy Durham as it is. We aren't interested in becoming bland, boring and beige. Or quiet! Thanks!

Why does one anonymous whiner have more power than many? Let Batala use the public space, that's what it's for.

Seems odd that the many, many, many concerts at central park aren't ever shut down.(sarcasm). Don't move into a block across the street from a CENTRAL PARK, if you want quiet.

I agree--don't shut down this group just because a couple of johnny-come-lately sourpusses want downtown to be totally silent. (Why did they move to the new housing development next to an open, public space in the first place? They might as well shut down the Farmer's Market too, if the one or two complainers have a problem with Batala!)
