We the undersigned, strongly urge Nottinghamshire County Council to urgently review their proposed 67% cuts in funding to the Citizens Advice Bureau next April... The CAB is a cornerstone voluntary Organisation largely staffed by Volunteers. Its brand name is synonymous with outstanding service and care. Much valued by residents across the whole of Bassetlaw. For Bassetlaw CAB, this massive cut in funding will affect the levels of service to the community. A stark contrast to the government’s boasts of 19% across all departments over four years. The CAB is owned by the community and works for the community. In these times of public service cuts, redundancies and cuts in the welfare state the CAB will be needed more than ever before. Nottinghamshire County Council has a moral duty to ensure the Bassetlaw Citizens Advice Bureau is in a position to do its job.

The scale of this response has secured us a meeting with the cabinet member responsible for these budget proposals. My focus is now on finalizing the formal brief detailing the exact impact of these service reductions on our local residents.

My local branch is always packed. They do such vital work for everyone around here.
The CAB helped me out so much when I had no idea where to turn with my debt problems. Cutting their funding is just cruel and short sighted.

TOTAL DISGRACE. People rely on these guys for actual help. Council needs to find the money elsewhere.
