Worcester has a big basketball community but very few outdoor courts for local people to use. We are petitioning for a court in West Worcester, specifically Cripplegate Park which is central and easily accessible by foot, car and public transport.

Basketball is a sport which is accessible to the masses with very little equipment needed. Worcester itself is a ‘basketball city’ with an extremely successful BBL team, university teams and local clubs but we desperately need to give more opportunities for ‘grass roots’ basketball in the community which new outdoor courts would provide.

This facility would be used by hundreds of children and adults and would also give the Worcester Wolves Academy the opportunity to run community events and competitions to encourage more people to engage in one of the biggest, fastest growing, yet underfunded sports in the UK.

We just hit 250 signatures and the city council can no longer pretend this is just a small fringe request. They are actively ignoring the clear demand for a court in Cripplegate Park but we are going to keep turning up the heat until they give us an answer.

As a lifelong resident of Worcester and played basketball all of my life now 32 this would be of great use from children's and adults a like. And a stones throw from are amazing professional level Worcester Wolves it would be amazing.

Fantastic idea, it could be used by everyone. I play walking basketball for the over 60's at the university and I'm sure an outdoor court would benefit lots of age groups especially now when playing and exercising outside is safer than inside because of Covid19.

My 12 year old son love's basketball and we have got a hoop in our very small garden but the ball goes over the fence alot so a basketball court locally would be amazing

Parent of 4 children whose local park is cripplegate. These children really need more activities to do. A basketball court would be just what is needed to keep youths from hanging around and getting up to stuff they shouldn’t just because they are bored and have nothing to do

Very much needed in central Worcester, especially seen as basketball is a prominent sport at Worcester University. Ghulevelt Park is the nearest outdoor court but is substandard for basketball training/play for adults as the baskets are low and it is over a tennis court which is frequently in use

Being a 15 year old who wants to play basketball but cannot get to clubs, this court would be great. Also, the basketball court in ghulevelt park has been taken down, so this is now needed even more

Worcester needs an outdoor basketball court. The sport is growing massively here and it would be perfect for the boys and girls to progress free of charge.
