The Barbican YMCA is due to be closed down in september 2012 as the city of London along with YMCA England have decided to not renew the lease do to the costs of delapidation repair. However they clearly have not taken into account to vital role the hostel plays in both the local economy and the housing of hundreds of people, many on a long term basis who will be out of a homes, jobs and money without the building for their residence. Many of the local universities and schools rely on the building to house their young students at the age of sixteen whom are living alone and require the safety and community of the hostel for support. As well as this the facilities such as the gym and suana provide recreational relief to many hundreds more of the local people. Please sign the petition to save this valuable building and preserve the community and safety it houses for the upcoming years.

This place helped me out when I was really struggling. If they close it where are all these people supposed to go? Absolute joke.

KEEP IT OPEN. The gym is the only place in the area that is actually affordable. Disgraceful that they just want to toss people aside to save some cash.
