Strongly against any zoning for any school because education is very important and just because you live in a poor zone does it really mean you cant send your child to a better school! C'Mon NZ!1 i thought we were better than that

Sacred Heart College is zoned. I just don't think it is as strict as Baradene will become in terms of admissions.

As a past pupil I know that what made Baradene was the catholic community, a strong mix of people with similar values. If you zone you will completely lose this!!!

another awesome move to uphold and reaffirm the structural racial discrimination in place. Another symptom of a flawed education system which fails to give children from all backgrounds, areas and ethnicities a chance to seek quality education

This is definitely not a good thing! Zoning Baradene would mean that quality education is made available to those who can afford to live in the higher socio-economical areas like Remuera! It punishes many girls like myself who's parents worked day and night to put me through a decile 10 school so that I could have a better future. As a teacher, a parent and a past student - i strongly believe setting a zoning scheme for Baradene is wrong!

Apart from the adverse effect this could have on the diversity that is a very important part of Baradene, we need un-zoned schools so parents have a choice!

Zoning laws would completely undermine the ethos behing schools like Baradene College. These schools were originally instigated to offer a high quality education to applicants irrespective of their residential address. That has been a major factor in the strength and diversity of Baradene.
