We the undersigned strongly believe that there is no such thing as 'safe fracking' (or hydraulic fracturing), which puts our water, air and land at risk, and hereby request West Lothian Council to ban it (and other forms of Unconventional Gas Extraction such as Underground Coal Gasification or Coal Bed Methane Extraction) outright from ever taking place in this beautiful county.

Clean water is vital and beyond price. Fracking destroys clean water. Fracking is contrary to a low carbon energy policy. Energy policies should be low carbon and should make consistent sense. Fracking is not sensible nor safe.
Short term energy and monetary gains do not justify devastating the land, decimating the agriculture and tourist industry and destroying the health and wellbeing of the local people. All of these disadvantages have long term costs which will be much higher than short term gains.
Please do not pursue fracking in West Lothian, or Forth Valley, or anywhere in Scotland. It's not good enough to say it can be regulated. It's too risky.
This area is not suitable for fracking - too much unknown underworking, too many people living in the area, too many risks to the local water supply, too many chemicals used in the process which have not got known outcomes when in in combination, too many risks of local air pollution. We need to stop using fossil fuels - the future of our planet for future generations deserves better.
STOP any fracking taking place in Scotland. WHY risk our safety? The way FORWARD is to use naturally occurring energy sources, eg waves, solar, wind, etc as power, which is NOT derived from fossil or nuclear fuel. Why go BACKWARDS by continuing to explore the use of fracking? Spend the exploration money on RENEWABLE ENERGY.

West Lothian Council righty take pride in providing a safe, environment for people and families to live. More housing is being proposed for this area and increased employment would be welcome. However,to consider fracking in this area is appalling and would be extremely detrimental to the health and well being of residents along with the obvious danger of underground shafts and underground workings that are part of our history. It would certainly not be an attractive place to encourage families to come and live. Please say no to this dangerous method of extraction. A look around West Lothian will show many wind farms - surely this is an example of how renewables are proving to be the way forwards?

Fracking could cause so much damage to this area environmentally and to the residents who live here, so West Lothian definitely does not need fracking in this area.
