Almajiranci, is a synonym for the word 'almuhajr' meaning migrant. It is phenomena that has been in practice for centuries where Boys are taken away from thier homes by thier own parents to a religious scholar in a far away land for religious study. But it has overtime transformed into the greatest machinery of child abuse especially in Northern Nigera. The children survive by begging on the streets for food and become victims to every kind of human right abuse
Now, as little as 2 year olds are taken for 'almajioranci, as well as the Girl child.

The government, the Emirates, the imams, the community must all come together to stop this conservative and primitive almajiri system. You don't have to take you child away to get education these days.
Banning or reforming almajiranci in Northern Nigeria is one of the best solutions to ending insurgency in Nigeria. Society have passed that stage of education. It has to be reformed to suit contemporary realities.
I join my voice in the call for the banning of Almajiranci in Nigeria. These young children deserve better. Our govt should make it mandatory for every child of school age to be in school; every parent must be compelled to send their children to school! SAY NO TO ALMAJIRANCI; SAY NO TO CHILD LABOUR!
This is the 21 century, no child should be in this abusive condition to get any kind of education. We are the only muslum majority community with this barbarism in the world, this is not Islam. Our govt has to end this and provide them with education in good conditions.
The whole essence of the act of learning the Qur'an is being eluded in this practice these days.what they now do is child abuse ,the children learn nothing than roam the streets begging and constituting nuisance. More organised ways should be introduced cause learning the Qur'an is of great essence to the child. Thanks

This almajiri of a thing promote nothing but increases the rate of crimes in the northern part of the country, it really disturb the peace in me seeing child of 2-3 years roaming around the street begging for what to eat. We just can’t continue living like this.
