Now, some may see homework as crucial, but school and homework are the two main contributors to depression. Depression that drives people to kill themselves. The amount of stress an average secondary school student has these days is equivalent to a psychiatric patient in the '50s.
I have a (silly sounding) petition to ban homework, except for finishing assessments and revision. This would decrease stress and leave happier lives for all students living in the U.K. School deprives us of our basic human rights; it can give many students sleepless nights and then they get ridiculed for being tired and 'not listening'. This has negative effects on our health, of course. Homework pieces are set like the subject area is the only subject the student has, and that they have all the free time in the world to complete it to the best standard.
News flash, they don't
I agree. I have had many sleepless nights since I've started secondary school and have started getting mountains of homework. I understand that many children are able to get through easily, but I believe the majority find it hard and that it can contribute to teen health problems.
