Too much chaos and damage caused. We live as if we are in jail. Must a child be injured before this is taken seriously?

The baboon monitors did amazing work, and the programme also created much needed employment for our community.
Without them, the baboons have become more and more brazen in their destruction, with increasing levels of aggression.

For more than 5 years the various organs of state have passed the buck, so Cape Nature, Western Cape Dept Environment and Overstrand Municipality, get on with your jobs! Stop dithering, listen to your communities for a change!

As a resident of Fernkloof I agree it is high time that something is done to assist in the control of the baboons .

We live in 9th Street in Voelklip and the baboons are "visiting" us on a daily basis. I worked in the Kruger National Park for 29 years and I can assure you that you will never be able to rehabilitate rogue baboons - they must be removed in order to safeguard people and property. Since these baboons have become so used to human beings, they are extremely dangerous and will not hesitate to attack if cornered, especially young children and dogs must be kept at a safe distance.
Some or other corrective action needs to be taken by the relevant authorities as a matter of urgency. I can also assure you that somebody will be kept liable in the case of serious injuries to people or pets, as well as damage to property. I am personally of the opinion that the buck is being passed from one authority to the next - the so-called "volstruispolitiek" (ostrich politics) where people think that, if they hide their heads in the ground, the problem will disappear.

Sick and tired of having to replace plants and containers, re-paint walls and being invaded by baboons in the house. Working out to be very expensive.

The baboons are and have always been a problem in Hermamus. Numerous complaints to no avail. Who lives in a zoo behind bars...the citizens of this town!
Tired of being a prisoner in my own home.
