The traffic in the morning on both Lucerne and Chemin D'Aylmer have been insane since September began. It's taking 50 minutes or longer (It took 75 min on Wednesday, September 12th) to get from Vanier over the bridge. It took me over 2 hours to get to work and I was late. It's completely ludicrous! The HOV lane should be 2 people to match the bridge. I also think another bridge from Aylmer is MUCH needed but no government will ever cough up the money needed to actually build it. Very disappointing! Quality of family time is drastically reduced when families are having to commute for 2-3 hrs a day. I would seriously think about moving to Aylmer and dealing with the traffic nightmares when considering moving here.

We need to increase the Lane use. Aylmer is building way too many house/buildings for the lack of roads

The city needs to address this because it is becoming a nightmare. Construction everywhere but roads not expanded and speed limits getting reduced on top of it.

We would need another bridge to Ottawa from Aylmer as the population keeps growing with all the new developments and condos.

I've lived in Aylmer for 13 years and we've gone from 3 cars waiting to turn right at the Champlain bridge to 30 at 6:50. In another 10 years, we will have to wait an hour to cross the bridge on a good day. Either stop building and expanding Aylmer or build another bridge to alleviate traffic.

I agree that changing the bus lane to 2 passengers would be worth a try.

Please change the HOV lane on Aylmer to 2 people. Also, please build a new bridge in the west.

It's way too damn frustrating. No wonder we all have stress problems. Some people can not take the bus or bike to work. Some people NEED to drive their cars. Why in Gods name would they go through all that work to add not 1 but 2 bike lanes on the lower aylmer road? Is there not a damn bike path that we all spent so much money on already. Way to go Aylmer! Way to go!

The the current population in Aylmer plus the extreme development of condos/increased population density is not being well planned. It affects everyone on the road, it takes forever to get to Ottawa. 1 hour to get to work and 1.5 hours to return on Tuesday September 20th! Ridiculous. I know there are plans for the light rail currently but I am not convinced this will be much better than the current bus system. The lack of parking at the Rivermeade Park n Ride does not accommodate the level or ridership and people who cant find parking spots are either choosing to drive to work in traffic OR parking in the residential areas...on my street where there are large amounts of children walking, riding their bikes, and playing. And they are not always respecting the speed limits. Find a solution this is ridiculous. Stop allowing the high rate of development without properly planning the required road infrastructure. Build another bridge so that people travelling through Aylmer to get across to Ottawa's West end could do so easily. I am not sure reducing the HOV lane to 2 would make the situation better as it will not really decrease the number of cars on the road. Maybe its worth trying though. Anything has to better than the status quo.

Either Aylmer’s infrastructure needs to be modernized with new roads created or the ridiculous building of condos needs to end. Aylmer boasts itself on being a family friendly community, well how is it family friendly when it takes forever to get to and from work. Unfortunately there are not many work opportunities in aylmer itself and many individuals residing here work for the federal government. This problem gets worse and worse every year to the point that my husband and I have began looking at homes on the Ontario side.

I think 3-people carpool lane, especially when the bridge is only two, creates a huge disparity between the two lanes on Aylmer Road. I also firmly believe Aylmer needs a more western crossing in order to reduce bottlenecking at bridges. Ville de Gatineau, you need to plan better infrastructure for all the building permits you’re handing out in Aylmer.

I would like to see another bridge. Preferably one that goes directly to Kanata. It would allow Aylmer to grow in that direction instead of being condensed. Traffic would be flowing in both direction off the 148 which should alleviate congestion.

I work on West Hunt Club and even though the West end of Ottawa is right accross the river, it normally takes me 1hr and 15 mins to get to work in the morning. With no traffic, it takes me 35 mins.

I live near Rivermead and some mornings cannot turn left to get on Aylmer road since it’s so backed up. My 15-20 minute commute is regularly an hour long. Although public safety is important, Gatineau police are actually slowing things down even further by pulling people over in the commuter lane (often times who have 3 people aboard) . I believe opening the commuter lane will relieve some of the congestion and keep things moving safely in the morning. Let the police deal with real criminals, not honest, productive people who are just trying to get to work.
