They have been talking about anther Bridge now for over 50 years now. They even expropriated the land in Baie Simard next to Deschenes over 50 years ago. The Aylmer/Deschenes Sectors of GATINEAU never had the proper Infrastructure to support the housing and increased population Growth. Instead of Incentivizing the Housing Builders, they should have made them pay for the increased Infrastructure needed. I also believe that people who put their name as " ANONYMOUS" have no business signing a Petition, as they cannot be taken seriously. Gary FORGIE

Something has to be done about it. Its a 2.5km to the Champlain bridge so it should not take more than 5 mins to get there.

Hi Lee, thank you very much for your detailed post. Beyond not voting for Andre Fortin, what can we do to move forward and get some progress and action? The way I see it, the following seems like the course that any productive government would take: Short term (immediate - 2 years) - 3 lanes head towards Ottawa on chemin d'Aylmer from Midnight to Noon; 1 reserved for mass-transit - 3 lanes head towards Aylmer on chemin d'Aylmer from Noon to Midnight; 1 reserved for mass-transit - Both lanes head towards Ottawa on Boulevard de Lucerne from Midnight to Noon; 0 reserved for mass-transit - Both lanes head towards Aylmer on Boulevard de Lucerne from Noon to Midnight; 0 reserved for mass-transit Medium term (start project within no more than 3 years) - Develop ring road in Aylmer Long term (start project within no more than 5 years) - West-end bridge If these issues really aren't the highest on the priority list of the MTQ and Andre Fortin, I'm absolutely embarrassed on their behalf. In school, when working for employers and now working for myself; it has always been taught to focus on solving issues that will bring the most significant positive impact. It seems absolutely trivial where time and efforts must be focused.

We definitely need more lanes added to Lucerne and/or Chemin D'Aylmer, or a bridge to the west end!

I have been involved in this file for twenty five years. Due to much political inaction, we are now faced with incredible traffic coming in and out of Aylmer. The MTQ is directly responsible for the troubles we are facing today ( the new Minister of Transport is Andre Fortin). We can all send Mr. Fortin a strong message by not voting for him . In the meantime I would be glad to meet with anyone interested in this file and present the solutions. The traffic in Aylmer is part of a larger regional problem many thousands of commuters are faced with every day, it is not limited to Lucerne or Aylmer Road. The solution is to create a ring road which would include a western bridge crossing. I have drawn up a map on Google My Maps and can share with anyone interested. Short term stop gap measures will not suffice and all levels of government should face scrutiny for their inaction on this file over the past 15 years, despite my attending many many meetings with all levels of government related to this issue. My e-mail is [email protected] ... please feel free to get in touch. Thanks

Aylmer road should be the same as the Champlain Bridge. Turn 3 lanes going East in the morning and vice versa at night. Use our tax dollars towards the same signs lthat are used on The Champlain Bridge. Maybe make a third lane on Lucerne and do the same as I just stated above. They need to start brainstorming and fast. I don’t even commute to Ottawa and I’m so blessed. I feel for everyone in Aylmer.

I currently live in Aylmer off Vanier and have tried using Lucerne, allumettieres and principale and all routes are absolutely ridiculous. Something needs to be done to accommodate the growing population in Aylmer.

With all the housing development going on, the traffic is getting worst. Something has to be done sooner than later.
