Aylmer traffic is getting even worse as the city grows. I would like to reiterate the need for a bridge from the Pontiac area to Kanata. Thanks

The traffic is unbearable. The rapid over-development of Aylmer without any modifications to infrastructure has had an severe negative impact on the daily lives and well-being of all Aylmerites. Everyone works in Hull or Ottawa, so everyone moves East in the morning and West in the evening (i.e., and must rely on Lucerne/Aylmer road or Allumettieres); however, the buses only offer one route (to Rideau centre via portage), without access to Westboro (the 58 rarely runs and doesn't run on the weekend), or a link to the west of Ottawa. The bus route for CEGEP students is even worse (it takes a minimum of 1 hour to get to either cegep, when it is a 15-20 minute drive). Light rail will be a good solution for Aylmer, and a bridge connecting the west end of Ottawa with the west of Aylmer would alleviate traffic by diverting some of it away from the Champlain bridge (especially for those who live in the Pontiac). We need multiple solutions that work together in a hollistic fashion, especially since the city is showing no signs of ending the destruction of green spaces to put up new high-density developments.

Please widen Lucerne to 3 lanes and make the third lane a change lane as is found on the bridge so it alternates directions in rush hour. Remove the two bike lanes as there is a dedicated bike path within feet of these lanes.

I sent our MP Mr Furgus an email quite sometime ago expressing concerns concerning the increase in traffic. My suggestion was light rail using the existing railway bed that ran from Hull and continued up through Chelsea. The old railway bed is now a bike path which could be converted to a light rail system and since Lurcern was redone from Deschenes to the bridge bike paths are provided on each side. Most of the vehichles to and from Ottawa have only one or two passengers (mostly one),hence the 3rd lane on the bridge, very little traffic between 3 and 4pm when I take it.

You are not stuck in traffic. You are traffic.

Housing development should not continue without a transit plan in Aylmer!!! It is ruining family’s lives/already busy schedules.

Change carpool lane from 3 to 2 like the Champlain bridge its 2 lanes unless your "really, really" watching when you cross the bridge it changes to a devious "3" a real money maker for Gatineau as it catches tourists all the time..

A third lane should have been added on Lucerne from Vanier to the Champlain Bridge.

With some imagination, I am certain that a solution can be found using the existing lanes. Example, two car lanes east and one bus lane east in the morning, reverse in the afternoon. Planners do not live in Aylmer. Developers do not live in Aylmer. Infrastructure is a disgrace for the amount of development that has occurred, and continues.
