Dear students of Michigan
Imagine a textbook-tax free college life! The savings from
that could be another load of gas in your car, a night at the movies, or maybe,
more food for the week. Do you know the reality of a textbook-tax free Michigan
may be yours in the near future?
Right now, at the House, a bill (House Bill 4028) sponsored
by Representative Kosowski, is being reviewed by the Committee on Tax Policy. This
bill puts forward an amendment to existing Michigan tax policy a “no textbook
tax” clause, which proposes that college students with a valid student
identification would not be charged tax on textbooks required to complete their
courses.

Textbooks cost way too much already, this is long overdue.
