To:
Honorable Governor Bill Lee
State Capitol
Nashville, Tennessee
Governor Lee:
We, the undersigned Citizens of Tennessee, do hereby
petition for the Amending of the Constitution of the State of Tennessee in order to prohibit a State Tax on Property.
Article II Section 28 which pertains to a State Property Tax should be
abolished. This is an onerous and potentially devastating burden for Tennessee families. It is a tax which could jeopardize
the ability of local communities to properly fund education, local infrastructure and emergency responders.
Furthermore, the Tangible and Intangible Personal Property Tax
which currently may be applied to every citizen in Tennessee should be limited
to businesses only. Currently it too is a potential tax which has a rate set to
zero. We oppose onerous taxation as it
impedes an individual’s God granted rights to pursue life,
liberty and happiness.
Signed,
Rob Mitchell, Rutherford County Assessor of Property
Property taxes make us vassals of the state and not owners of liberty via private property.
