Dog attacks are becoming more frequent and a serious public hazard to the Anguillans using the roads as a primary form of commuting or exercising (walking, jogging, running, or cycling). In the past few months (even before COVID-19), there have been countless stories of dog attacks and biking accidents due to dogs leaving the pet-owners’ property and chasing down walkers and bicyclists. THIS MUST STOP!

In no way is this petition advocating the poisoning or unethical death of dogs but is demanding that the Department of Agriculture and the Royal Anguilla Police Force get involved and enforce pet-owners to safely confine their dogs in their own property. By fencing or tethering their dogs in a safe, humane, and escape-proof enclosure, pet-owners are protecting both road-users and their dogs. Owning pets is a great privilege and this responsibility should be taken seriously. Improper care of these animals becomes a public issue, especially when road-users are at risk of close-calls, serious injury, or even death.

The Department of Agriculture and the Royal Anguilla Police Force must get involved to keep Anguillan road-users safe!

Please sign this petition and let your voice be heard. Forward this petition to other road-users.
