Save Old Growth Make Everlasting.
The county of Mendocino, Ca. is planning to harvest the 57 acre forest property next to the Little River Airport. We are asking that a core area containing a concentration of Old Growth trees - about 3 to 5 acres - be set aside and not entered. This would serve both to protect the Old Growth and a destination point for a recreational hiking trail.The county will make little more than 150,000 dollars. Money will go to unallocated funds. Stop Corruption in Mendocino County!!!

These trees were younger redwoods standing during the initial cut of the logging heyday beginning mid 1850's. Point is these are our oldest trees left and need to thrive and grow. The airport wooded ecosystem is located at the headwaters of Buckhorn and Schoolhouse Creeks and is a lovely gem of forest with the creeks meandering throughout, active with many bird species flitting about and a peaceful habitat for many unseen critters. The Blue Lotus Butterfly is one species, now extinct, recorded last seen in the Little River Airport vicinity. Let's not let anymore species go extinct. A forest is a living community.

my kids love walking on those trails. its sad the county only cares about 150k when these trees have been around forever. leave them alone.
