This petition is to benefit research and diagnosis of autism for all those affected by it. 1-1.5 million Americans are affected by this disorder, and it is the fastest growing developmental disorder in the country. The average cost of treatment per year is currently $90 billion, and in ten years could rise to between $200-$400 billion. With early diagnosis, this cost can be reduced by 2/3. In order to raise funds, we propose a plan which ciphons five cents per gallon from the gas tax revenue in Connecticut. With this money, more can be done to help in the research, diagnosis, and treatment of autism.
