As 1 in 88 children with Autism become adults, their risk of injury or death at the hands of law enforcement is multiplied by their misunderstood behaviors and motivations. Comprehensive training of all Berkeley County SC law enforcement officers in spotting signs of Autism in individuals and being prepared to handle them can offset this increased risk, thereby improving the safety of both citizens and law enforcement.
