This seems an enormous increase in fees which will be extremely difficult for some people to afford and could consequently cause a great deal of heartbreak. What will the future be for those pets whose owners can't afford the new fees and also can't find new homes for their much loved pets.

This is ridiculous! They are saying that a 60+% decrease in the time required for each animal justifies a more than 300% increase in the per day fee. If the cost of maintaining facilities is an issue then close 1 of them now that the workload in each one has been decreased by 60% and there is no greater demand due to an increase in animals being imported!

We have been trying to save to fly our "Australian" dog back from the UK. This increase would just make it impossible !

Whilst I understand the necessity for cost increases in line with inflation and rising costs for wages, accommodation and maintenance the prosed increase seems utterly excessive and disproportionate to other cost of living increases. Outrageous !

$1800 per pet for a 10 day stay in Quarantine seems to be far in excess and needs to be reassessed according to the current economic climate.

How am I supposed to tell my 9, 7 and 5 year old daughters, who I promised that we would take our dog with us when moving to Australia, that I have to break my promise because I can't afford to bring him any more?!? I budgeted for one price and now the budget could be shot. They have been counting the days on a calendar!

In asserting the need to recover actual costs, the Department fails to provide those affected with any compelling evidence of its actual costs in running this service. The proposed fee is more per day than many of us earn in wages or salaries before tax.

I think this new cost is outrageous! To most people their pets are their family and the want to bring them too, it's expensive currently, to raise the cost is just cruel.

Shocking price, where many animals will be left behind, increasing the amount of animals homeless or in need of finding a home! Just wrong..your are greedy, money seeking people!

Bringing pets and family home to Australia is already very expensive, possibly a fairer basis would be a sliding scale of fees upon means testing?

This really will cause some hardship and if I persevere with bringing my pet something else will have to go. Please rethink this 149 AUD is a great deal of money to ask.

It is stressful enough worrying about what your dog will be going through without the added stress of whether you can actually afford to bring your pet with you. your
