I am honestly overwhelmed by the way you all have jumped on this issue so quickly. If we can reach five hundred signatures today it will show the department that this burden is truly too much for families to bear.

In asserting the need to recover actual costs, the Department fails to provide those affected with any compelling evidence of its actual costs in running this service. The proposed fee is more per day than many of us earn in wages or salaries before tax.
This seems like a very high charge for the quarantine service, and we would want to see evidence that this reflects the true cost of holding the animals. We have already paid for our dog's stay for end-August and feel that the previous quote should be honored.
$1800 for 10 days - is outright extortion on thw poor people who want to legitimately bring animals to Australia. Havimg used the service in Qld I can honestly say my pet was not cared for adequately to justify any more than a kennel fee
This seems to be an attempt to charge the same amount as before, but for less time. How this could even be considered "reasonable" is beyond me. I have 3 dogs that I am bringing into the country, so this would increase my costs by over $3000 total.
How can you increase so much so suddenly ?? We cannot afford this. How can I explain to the children that their pet cat and dog has to be given away in the UK before we move to Australia. Distraught people and children. What a great start !! Thanks
Please lessen the cost of my pet's travel. And please lessen the 6month long waiting period, rather than that you can have a 2-3 month wait period

This fee increase will make it more expensive then the previous cost to quarantine your animal for 30 days by $320; this cost of caring for an animal could not have increased that dramatically especially with one less quarantine centre to manage!
