this is outrageous! How can you justify a more than QUADRUPLE price bump per day? I love my dog so much and I've been planning her import for months now, and this had made it nearly impossible for me. I don't think this is the solution because by raising the cost you are cutting out more than half of the people who can afford to do it!

This fee increase will make it more expensive then the previous cost to quarantine your animal for 30 days by $320; this cost of caring for an animal could not have increased that dramatically especially with one less quarantine centre to manage!

This is excessive. Please revisit these charges. It is not like a tourist reentering the country but people who have been living abroad with all sorts of costs around moving back. Don't make it more difficult by imposing these unfair costs.

in an age where animals are involved as part of a family, it seems awfully cruel to charge so much money added to the initial stress of travelling and time apart from each other :(

This is what I emailed to them. The daily fee for a cat (and dog) has jumped significantly from $29 to $149 per day. At 10 days in quarantine that’s from $290 to $1490! That’s disgraceful. I can’t see how you can justify that increase even by not having had an increase since 2005. Surely rent and salaries haven’t increased over 500% to justify this deplorable increase?? People who are mid process with their imports are totally getting screwed over by this and are stuck between choosing to pay or to abandon their pet after already spending a considerable amount for the import permit and RNATT testing and declaration form. You could have adjusted the fees gradually rather than doing it this way. Even the bird quarantine increase has only jumped 95%. Disgraceful. I see from the link below that I’m not alone in my feelings on this matter. Needless to say I signed the petition and posted it on Facebook to spread the word. http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/australia-quarantine-fees http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/shipping-pets-ask-pet-air/209937-australia-quarantine-fees-2.html

I called the DAFF because I thought it was a typographical error! I'm mid process and am appalled at this +500% increase! I also emailed the petition link and my feelings on this disgraceful implementation of the huge increase to [email protected].

it will make us have to reconisder whether to bring our pet at all especially now perth is closed and we have the cost of the additional flight.

Such a huge increase will impact on so many which in the end the animals will suffer as they're left behind purely due to the cost. We have 2 dogs which will need to return to Aust from the UK with us.

Our dog is booked to travel 03/09/14 and we have tightly budgeted for the original quarantine costs of $39 per day. We are really going to struggle to find the additional costs but cannot live without our dog here with us, he is a precious member of our family. We would have coped if the costs had increased slightly but are disgusted that they can be allowed to increase by so much. I feel it is very insensitive and taking advantage of people that are already upset without their pets.

There is really no need to double the quarantine fees!

It's coslty enough to transport pets to Australia without AQIS putting their nose in the trough too.

Please reconsider! These fees are only going to put people off taking their pets

This has devastated our family, we are going to have to leave my daughters best friend in the world behind, to late for us to reconsider our move as my husband is already in Australia and my visa is currently being processed, so upset
