This is a farcical amount of money we are talking about for an animal per night. I do not believe for one second that this value for money and a justifiable increase in the rate per night to cover costs involved. It is of the same price for a nights stay in one of Melbourne's finest hotels! Daff are purely acting on financial greed.

Clearly DAFF have realised that they're losing revenue having reduced quarantine from 39 days to 10. Now they're trying to make up the shortfall!

I would like to see the justification for this hugh amount as Ido not feel this is fair and reasonable and for families who have just spent thousands through visa processes etc this is ludicrious.

We are supposed to be moving our dog in Nov and I am student! How I am supposed to afford this?? I don't want to abandon my dog. I am trying to do the right thing and this is making it impossible!

Please reconsider - with the closure of Perth quarantine office you're already reducing services and adding significant cost to anyone who wants to import animals to WA. This proposed cost hike is a huge burden!

These costs are too high and our clients would not be able to afford this!

To increase fees to such a level well above inflation is going to reserve imporation of pet dogs and cats to Australia for the select wealthy. Pets are part of a family and it is very sad to see Australia increase the fees to a point where realistically many families are not going to be able to afford to bring their pets with them during a relocation to Australia.

The potential increase in fees and the short lead time for anyone to prepare or budget accordingly is unacceptable. Anyone who currently has a booking or a permit should not be subject to the increase. An increase of this amount should be explained in detail just like the protocol for import. Some of the recent changes for import have resulted in higher vet bills as well. Where does it end?

This would be a ridiculous and unjustified price increase, and makes the reduced quarantine time pointless, as it will now cost more than before.

For many families pets are considered children, part of the family. If Australia wants to keep promoting migration, these fees need to be revised. Many will simply not be able to afford the cost you are proposing.

It is disgusting to expect people to pay that much money for a dogs quaranteen stay. How can you justify these costs?

Absolutely ludicrous. Better be long walks, massages and a four poster bed for that price.

Bringing a pet over is already such an expensive process - we spent $7000 including flights, blood tests, quarantine fees etc. We would never have left our dog behind. But increasing the costs would put some people in the heartbreaking position of having to leave their pet behind. With all due respect, the quarantine facilities were no different than a dog kennel. This huge increase in daily fees seems to take advantage of people choosing to bring a beloved member of their family to their new home
