I strongly oppose the increase in Australian quarantine fees. Moving with pets internationally is already expensive enough, and pets are often left behind in shelters due to their families' inability to move them. Average boarding costs typically run $30-$50 USD per pet per day. There is no justification to charge $149 AUD per day for what is essentially boarding in a government facility. Working for a pet transportation company, I understand that DAFF must cover its costs, but $149 AUD seems excessive and well beyond the actual costs associated with standard import quarantine. I have already paid for flights and quarantine for my 2 cats who are arriving in Melbourne August 2014. How can this extra charge be justified and how can it be reasonable to ask me to pay a significant amount extra?

We have already started the process of arranging for our dog to return to Australia. Our budget didn't take into account the fact that quarantine fees could more than double before we send her!

This astronomical increase in import fees is an abomination. DAFF is single-handedly pricing people out of bringing their family members to Australia when relocating. Stop breaking-up families!

It's already expensive to bring your pets with you when you move. They are part of the family so please make these costs reasonable and allow us to bring our much loved pets with us for our new life in Australia.

This is an extensive increase and over priced. Given that a 30 day quarantine timeframe was originally cheaper! Whilst prices had not been reviewed since 2009 as the costly excercise is sensitive when repricing, to increase the price by triple whilst reducing the quarantine timeframe to a third - in theory can be seen as a six (6) times increase!

In Aug. 2009 the rates were substantially increased. We were told this was based on increased operational costs. This new proposed massive increase is obviously largely based on advance funding for the new Melbourne facility construction on the backs of pet owners who are moving to Australia to participate in their countries economy & growth. I already have heart-broken clients that have advised they can not afford to take their pets if this goes through. I expect that nothing can stop the Australian gov't from putting this massive cost increase in place.

To increase the fees this much is just not acceptable and will cause many heartaches for so many people. It is devastating to leave your beloved pet behind just because a financial reason. And the costs are already soooo high for visums, veterinary consults, airfreight etc etc. We as a petshipper in the Netherlands vote NO to these high fees.

The prices are already so high, it's unfair to make people pay so much more for their pets to join them. The government is taking advantage of pet owners and how much they love their pets!
