I am honestly stunned to share that the university has officially acted on this matter. This outcome belongs entirely to the 259 of you who stood firm and insisted on accountability. I never imagined we would reach this point but I am so grateful that you refused to stay silent.

We, the signers of this petition, are writing express our concern over the alarming comments by Auburn Professor, Jesse A. Goldberg, as reported on yellowhammernews.com on 31 July 2020. Per the article, Mr. Goldberg goes by the username @KempoJesse and tweeted the following:
“F*ck every single cop. Every single one. The only ethical choice for any cop to make at this point is to refuse to do their job and quit. The police do not protect people. They protect capital. They are instruments of violence on behalf of capital.”
We strongly oppose this message, especially for any calls for police to refuse to do their job and quit. We believe that a strong and vibrant community needs police officers who protect and serve.
Therefore, we do not believe Mr. Goldberg should be a professor at Auburn University as these comments can give our students the wrong impression about the role of police, especially when coming from someone who is viewed by the students as an adult and an authority.
Furthermore, we are reconsidering our financial support to Auburn University as long as Mr. Goldberg is employed there. We do not feel that these comments or beliefs represent the values and ideals of the Auburn Family.

As the mother of a police officer I am offended by this professors comments. When this so called man of higher education need help..... guess who would be the ones to respond to the call regardless of what his feelings about them are. You guessed it... law enforcement
As the parent of a current AU junior and an AU alumnus, I do not want this professor to teach my son. He does not belong at Auburn University. He does not need to have the opportunity to influence impressionable college students with his radical views of police.
while recognizing this individuals right to free speech, it does not relieve him from consequences of his actions. I do not believe he is representative of the core values Auburn Men and Women from all walks of life share and he should be terminated immediately.
This idiot must go, not in line with Auburn Creed. This is not the Auburn I have supported all my life. Class of 79..I will not support another dime while he is employed at Auburn..
My daughter starts classes there in a couple of weeks. I'm do not want someone with those views on the faculty at the institution that my daughter's is attending.
Assign him an empty classroom for the year of his contract, ignore him, and then cut him loose. Alabama is an at-will state. Don't waste time giving him a forum.

This is not what I believe to be a type of professor that represents Auburn, its values, and the Auburn Creed. I am appalled he hasn’t been released from his position already. This is unacceptable!
