Prior to the pandemic, we were always told to limit screen time. Obviously screen time will have increased due to remote learning but 7 hours a day on our laptops, with additional hours of homework every night is overly excessive and is leading to poor mental health amongst students.
Not only are students stressed due to the threats of getting sick or losing sports seasons, but also the amount of school work. The majority of students are struggling to finish one day worth of work within the given time. There is also an additional constant worry about loved ones and missing friends.
Wednesdays should be asynchronous. Students would have time to catch up on the first half of the weeks work and find some time to relax.
Not only would asynchronous Wednesdays benefit the students, but also the teachers. They would have time to catch up on grades as well as plan out their lessons.
we all need a little break during this god awful pandemic. this is hard for ALL of us. this would help out significantly with students and teachers mental health. we could have a little more time with family or ourselves and relax a little bit because i know for a fact we are all stressed right now. this would help every single person. and if they can’t fully take it away, make it OPTIONAL for students to join their classes. most of us are fully capable of getting our work done by ourselves.
