Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, students all throughout the world have been faced with the decision to either go to school with a hybrid plan or to stay at home and learn virtually. In Owen J. Roberts school district, numerous students (including myself) have chosen the virtual learning option, and although we're receiving the same information as our in-person peers, we're also forced to sit in front of our computer screens for eight hours a day, five days a week. With asynchronous Wednesdays, cyber students are able to take a break from the overwhelming amount of screen time, and recharge for the last days of the week, while also continuing with their assignments, and checking in with teachers when needed. Taking away this asynchronous day will negatively impact both virtual learning and hybrid learning students throughout our district. These days provide students with a much needed "buffer" to recollect ourselves. School is stressful enough without the prospect of a global pandemic in the back of our minds constantly, and these asynchronous learning Wednesdays positively impact the students of Owen J. Roberts school district. Please sign the petition and share it with friends, parents, and members of the district to help try and keep asynchronous Wednesdays!

We just hit 500 signatures. It is exhausting to keep pushing when the district seems so firm but seeing these names makes me feel like we have a fighting chance.

Reaching this level of support has been exhausting yet I am grateful to see that so many of you understand the need for these breaks. The fight to keep our Wednesdays is draining but knowing that I am not alone in this makes it harder to walk away.

The exhaustion of these past few months is hitting us all hard but I am still pushing for this schedule change. We are nearing five hundred signatures and reaching that mark is the only way the board will look our way. Send this link to someone who knows the weight of these long weeks.

Upon regular circumstance, we would not be seated in our chairs for 8 consecutive hours staring at the obscenely small screens the school has given us to work with. It’s not beneficial to our eyes and for some may even quicken the pace at which their eyes degrade. Not cool, ojr, not cool.
with a job that consumes 30+ hours of my week, Wednesdays are a necessity for me to catch up on work I simply cannot complete during the week.
Asynchronous Wednesdays allow me to catch up on work, work on college apps, and do enrichment work!
Asynchronous Wednesdays is the only time I have to finish/catch up on work that the school provides. It is also one of the only times I have to relax AWAY from the computer. Everything is already hard enough due to online school and covid. Taking away the one day i look forward too will cause my preformance as a student to plummet, and I’m sure everyone elses too. Please don’t do this us.
these asynchronous days are so helpful when it comes to checking in with my teachers one on one. while doing school virtually it is much harder to find a time during class when it is appropriate to ask questions, and with asynchronous days in the middle of the week, the perfect time to ask questions is available through office hours.
They definitely need this mental break on wed .
They are useful to make up work and talk to teachers.

It is very helpful for my students to reach out to me during Wednesday’s for my office hours. Also it’s a good day for them to catch up. We develop our lessons as a department during this time. To make them engaging and virtual friendly.
