The Providence Group zoning matter RZ-22-0003 was scheduled to be heard by the John's Creek Planning Commission on June 7, 2022. The developer requested and was granted deferral from the June 7th meeting. It was canceled without public notice and subsequently moved to July 5. Notification of the April 14 public participation meeting was limited in distribution resulting in minimal turnout. There is considerable interest among residents of surrounding neighborhoods in attending the Planning Commission Meeting to assure there is a record of concerned citizen perspectives in this matter. The rescheduled date falls immediately after a long holiday weekend, and in the middle of a traditional summer holiday week for many families. The selection of this date will once again limit public participation in the Planning Commission Meeting. It is noted that the Providence Group has recently notified some residents of a public participation meeting on June 29. However the public participation meeting does not include city representation nor is it recorded as part of the official record. To assure community voices and perspectives are heard by the Planning Commission, affected Johns Creek residents hereby request further deferral of this issue to the August 9th Planning Commission Meeting. We appreciate the City's consideration of residents' request for deferral commensurate with the consideration for deferral granted to the developer.

Updates

June 17, 2022

The volume of support for this petition has reached a level that warrants formal attention from the city council. I am finalizing a letter to the Planning Commission to request the August meeting date based on this demonstrated community interest.

Just one more voice here from the Parson Run neighborhood. And, I hope that our local public servants take the time to listen to our concerns.

Area residents will greatly be impacted traffic-wise—especially during school hours where traffic is stacked & stopped, and during rush hour times (Parson’s Rd). Hard to get out of subdivisons at times now!

Since July 5 falls during a holiday week, we would appreciate it if you would defer this meeting to August 9 so the families in our neighborhood can be available to express our concerns about this project.

July 5th is a terrible date to be making a decision of this importance to our neighborhood.

Please move the meeting so that families are in town and we are able to express our concern.
