It is completely inappropriate to have a PAN of 38 which does not allow the school to appropriately budget for staff given that in some years we have an admission number of over 40 and in other years 22. A PAN of 30 will provide long term security for our children of classes of no more than 30 (as per the Hertfordshire norm) as opposed to classes of 38 which we are left with this forthcoming academic year.

The current PAN of 38 makes it impossible for the school to provide a quality education to our children within budget, with oversized and mixed year classes. A reduction to 30 would help to rectify this.

Research evidence is clear that child learn better in smaller classes and that this impacts on their future educational attainment . We do not want our children disadvantaged.

Please reduce the PAN class size at Ashwell School. The current solutions of mixed classes, or over staffing a larger class, has put unreasonable pressures on children, staff and funding.

38 is too big for one teacher and any normal classroom; 19 (if you taught the group as 2 classes) cannot be afforded in today's funding climate.

I do not believe that a teacher can sufficiently educate a class of 38, a greater focus on the children's education can only be possible with further support than that outlined to date. Many children in the the class are at great of risk being overlooked and having minimal time with their class teacher at such an important learning period in their young lives. Kind Regards.

Please reduce our PAN from 38 to 30. Our year sizes are erratic throughout the school and this has caused huge problems with staffing and mixed year groups.

This PAN number should have been monitored more closely and reduced a number of years ago.
It's paramount to the education of our children that this number is reduced asap. 18 months is too long for this to happen!

Please reduce the PAN at Ashwell School. Class sizes of 38 or higher are detrimental to a child's education.

I feel that the class numbers are to high for the small school that as Ashwell is. my son was lucky when he was at Ashwell school not to be in a split class due to high numbers, the teachers and TA wouldn't be able to give their pupils who struggle with school work extra attention if the numbers are to high therfore detrimental to children's education.

Please reduce the PAN at Ashwell primary school. There is a definite detrimental affect on both pupils and staff with the school intake set at this number.

Both of my sons are in a year of 38-40 pupils at Ashwell school and my youngest who struggles academically is set to go into a class of 38 next year. This is going to destroy his education as he is already finding it hard in such a big class now. This school does not have the physical capacity to accommodate the number of children it is expected to take. This is an old village school and therefore should not be expected to take hundreds of children into such a small building especially when a lot of the children live closer to bigger schools in the local towns.

I fully support the reduction in the PAN to 30, clearly letting the school run with a PAN of 38 has created extra financial burdens on the school that it can no longer cope with, which the education authority must have been fully aware of by continuing to let this happen.
This reduction needs to be approved immediately to give the school a more credible financial backdrop for the future education of all of our children attending the school. Waiting years should not be an option for this measure.

Our daughter is in a class of 38 next year, which is surely not fair for any of the children, and the school infrastructure and physical space is just not sufficient for a school with classes of this size.

I don't have any children at Ashwell school any more but I think it's a real shame that they have lost such great teachers and the proposed reorganisation of classes for September is unacceptable particularly for year 6 .
