A PAN of 38 is wholly unacceptable - it will be significantly detrimental to our children and the amount of time their wonderful teachers can spend with them. Our kids shouldn't be made to suffer for short-sighted decisions made years ago

A PAN reduction is essential for our village school ..to give all current and future children the opportunity to achieve to their full potential. The current PAN of 38 is clearly not working, and a reduction needs to happen now.

The classes used to be split so that the class sizes even mixed did not exceed 30. But now this can't be done as there is not the money to have the extra teachers to enable this to happen. As a result the classes need to be reduced as a teacher teaching a class size of 38 like for my son is just not acceptable.

Maintaining an appropriate staff to pupil ratio with a PAN of 38 puts too much pressure on the school budget and leads to classes being divided and remixed each year, which is disruptive to children and their friendship groups.
The school also doesn't have sufficient playground space in the winter months to support that many children and let them play freely and safely.

My son came from the US and was 2 years behind his classmates academically. The Ashwell teachers have spent hours at lunch and afterschool to help him catch up. For all the kids like Jake, and all the teachers who put their own time in to educate these kids - please reduce the PAN for our wonderful school

Quite how one teacher is supposed to effectively communicate and provide the individual attention that each child needs when they have 38 children in a class, is quite bemusing. A reduction to 30 is essential.

My children have found it very disruptive to friendship groups to have their class recut every year and have different children in their class each year. It was a source of worry to them at the end of every year. The school does not feel big enough and a lunch times the hard play area is overcrowded and my daughter us rushed through lunch.

The PAN of 38 is leading to large class sizes without sufficient income to employ additional teaching staff. Some proposed class sizes are now a national outlier (largest 0.5% of class sizes in the UK). This is leading to inequalities that could adversely affect children at Ashwell School.

As a parent with a child in the class of 38 I am worried about the pressure on staff and children. I feel that no child whatever their abilities will be able to meet their potential. The pressure on the single teacher will be immense and I'm not sure how she will achieve quality teaching and marking.

PAN reduction is essential - all children especially children with special needs that are not eligible for funded support would not be able to cope and have their needs met in such large classes working on an average budget.
