I support the petition to reduce the PAN from 38 to 30. The current situation is unsustainable and places unnecessary strain on the school to balance class sizes and budgets.

I fully support the petition to reduce the PAN to 30.

It is essential that the PAN is reduced to 30 as soon as possible. There is no longer the demand for 38 places from local children and it is completely unacceptable for children to be taught in a class as large as 38 children. I urge the County Council to assist the school with additional funding for part time teachers to support those teachers who are being asked to teach a class as large as 38.

The PAN of 38 means either too large a class or two uneconomic ones. Opting for the second of these has wrecked our finances. Moreover, that figure is no longer needed to meet local demand. It needs to be reduced urgently to enable the school to function efficiently.

A PAN of 38 is unsustainable for the school and is affecting the provision that it can make for the children.

For the sake of the children and staff the PAN needs to be reduced to 30

38 is too many for teachers and pupils and 19 is, at present, too expensive. The Pan needs to be reduced to 30 immediately.

I agree with this petition but I would like to add that over the last year the problems within Ashwell School have been dealt with little or no sensitivity for the feelings of parents or teachers. We have all been deeply affected by this traumatic year, and I hope that by solving the PAN numbers things will improve. We look forward to getting a new head teacher with sensitivity and awareness for the feelings of others.

The PAN plainly needs reducing to give our children the best environment for learning and to fall properly in line with admission numbers across the UK. In the meantime, further financial support is necessary for next year's class of 38.

I strongly support a reduction in PAN from 38 to 30 for Ashwell Primary School. As a parent of current year 4 and year 2 pupils I am deeply concerned over the proposed class sizes for the next academic year and the detrimental effect that this will have on my children's academic progression. This is the only school in Hertfordshire to have such a PAN of 38 which is extremely unfair, please can this be changed to 30 in line with all other Herfordshire schools. Many thanks Rachel Burke

My grandson is joining Nursery this year, and it is vital for all the children joining this small village school in the future to be entering manageable class sizes. But I also agree with previous comments ...what about my granddaughter who next year will be in a class of 38. What is going to be done to help all the children in her class, and to make sure they are getting the levels of education they deserve.

Fully support this but how will the local authority support the pan of 38 classes already in the school.

No other school is subjected to a pan 38 on a long term basis. The council should not have allowed this to happen and it should be changed immediately. Additional funding must be provided in the meantime to prevent the inherent unfairness which arises from this rediculous, unmanageable and grossly unfair arrangement which is prejudicing the education of so many children.

Please reduce the current PAN of 38 to 30 to give our children the level of teacher attention and indoor and outdoor space they need and deserve.

Having a PAN size of 38 creates an unworkable situation both financially and educationally for a school. It has resulted in a class of 38 pupils with a single teacher which puts unnecessary pressure on staff and young children. I fully support a reduction in the PAN size to 30 as soon as possible.
