273-80 of the Zoning Code details the standard for granting such a permit as applied for by Arrow Paving. Within the code it specifies that it must be in harmony with the appropriate and orderly development of the Town and the neighborhood. While a majority the the Whitfield Street neighborhood residents have signed a petition in opposition to special permit, we believe this is not just a neighborhood issues but rather a town-wide issue. Guilford townspeople in general are affected, whether they simply travel on this street to go to the marina, Jacobs Beach, Chittenden Park, or the shore restaurants, or whether they use the area actively for recreation, as by walking, jogging, or bicycling. We would urge you to consider lending your name to this petition. We, the residents of Guilford hereby state our opposition to the application for a special permit by Arrow Paving. The special permit would allow Arrow Paving to stockpile used asphalt and operate an asphalt crusher on it's property with the attendant unreasonable noise of construction equipment and the constant coming and going of large dump trucks from this property. The proposed new use is a throwback to the former industrial character of this area and is out of harmony with the rapdily improving quiet residential characterof this neighborhood abd does not conform to its orderly and appropriate development.

Arrow Paving wants to bring an asphalt crusher into our quiet neighborhood but we have the power to stop this transformation. Post the link to your Facebook page and text three neighbors who use Whitfield Street for recreation. We need to keep this pressure on the town planning board until they reject this permit.

The scale of this opposition has clearly caught the attention of local leadership. Post our petition link to your Facebook page right now so we can keep this pressure mounting before the next zoning board meeting.

NOT IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD. Go find an industrial zone for that mess.

I drive down whitfield all the time to get to the water and it is already busy enough without big construction trucks added to the mix.

The noise from those crushers is unreal. No way we should let them set up shop right in a neighborhood.

Ridiculous. Why would the town even consider this? We need to keep guilford quiet and residential like it should be.
