Keep our kids happy and off the streets, the stake park is a highly used area and an essential hang out for our young talented kids who thrive on releasing their energy and perfecting their skills, instead of getting rid, improve it for future years

This seems like a great idea for the young people in the area, I agree that this should be reconsidered.

we complain when kids do these things where they shouldn't - if they have somewhere decent to go, then that would reduce this if not stop it altogether. give them somewhere safe and fun to encourage outdoor exercise.

Our kids need something to do and somewhere to go in Helensburgh. It is a ghost town and the square is being used for bmx-ing and skating which makes it unsafe for pedestrians.
Our kids deserve more!

As the leisure centre is being 're vamped, then a new skate park should also be included as it is a leisure activity. No more shops.

If there is no provision made for such an activity it takes place regardless...if danger to people due to skating in general public areas and damage done to general public property through skating/boarding etc is what the council wants then certainly don't replace the skate park. Focussing on younger children with provision of a new park at Hermitage is wonderful, but what about those older children/young adults who are also needing a safe, appropriate place to 'play'???

It is absolutely crucual for children to have the opportunity for active and safe provision near to home. Having visited the ramps with my own children and those of friends I am saddened to hear that yet again the needs of the young are being ignored and the provision is to be lost rather than updated as children deserve. Why don't you show the children of Helensburgh that they do actually matter enough to get enhanced provision as a replacement. Remember they too will soon be voters- invest in them!

Enjoyed the skatepark in the past & it would be a huge loss to the community if not replaced in any way.

There are hardly any free activity places left for children outdoors in Helensburgh. New government policies are highlighting the importance of preventing and tackling child's obesity, yet very little is done to encourage it for families that cannot afford to pay for various sports kids clubs.

Helensburgh needs a new skatepark more than another retail development. There is a serious lack of provision for older children who are not members of various sporting clubs. If there is no skatepark youngsters will use the new seating along the seafront causing damage and annoyance to locals and visitors. A new skatepark would show local youth their needs are considered as valued members of our community.
