This petition is to allow Whole Foods in Gowanus. We applaud the commitment that Whole Foods has shown in cleaning and developing this difficult site(3rd street and 3rd avenue). Anyone faced with the challenges developing this property would need to ask for the same and ultimately need the same variances. They have proven they are socially, environmentally and economically responsible company. Gowanus needs more of this and less academic think tanks that pop up to tell others what they think without ever actually manufacturing anything other than statistics. Products sold at WHOLE FOODS are products that are responsible for thousands of jobs at hundreds of companies run by fine people. Many of these companies are local businesses. WHOLE FOODS HAS DEMONSTRATED NOTHING BUT RESPONSIBLE COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT.
The momentum behind this project proves that this neighborhood is done waiting for the obstructionists to clear the way. These armchair critics in their think tanks cannot stop us when real job creators are ready to build.

Living right around the corner and I am so tired of going all the way to park slope just to get groceries. We need this.

Finally something useful going into that lot. It has been a dump for way too long. Get it done!

About time someone actually cleaned up that site. Big improvement for the area.

Stop holding up progress. The jobs alone make this worth it. Bring it to gowanus already.

Gowanus is changing whether people like it or not. Whole Foods is better than some empty warehouse collecting trash.
