A young male is facing twelve years for biting someone. He is not gang member, was working two jobs, and he graduated from high school. Growing up in low-income communities, I have witnessed how this is not common. Manuel "Manny" Sarabia turned 19 in jail and is awaiting court where he can face up to 12 years of prison time! What angers me is that other vicious criminals, rapists, get the same prison time and yet it is supervisiolly difficult to prove someone guilty of rape. Yet Manny is facing the same punishment. We all know that if someone gets prison time, they will not be rehabilitated; no, instead they will come out and be part of a vicious cycle of poverty and violence. Please I urge you to think about your kids, friends, and loved ones when you think about Manny. He is a great kid and has no prior offenses. An unfortunate event should not determine the rest of your life – I would not want that for anyone I know. If you agree that one night should not ruin someone's life please sign our petition. Everyone deserves a second chance.
