Mr. Efrem,

We, the employee body of Altitude Trampoline Park, come to you with a declaration of our grievances in a professional and respectful manner in regards to the recent policy change about scheduling requests.

We feel that the former policy was not taken advantage of and was successful in what the employees used it for. As most of the staff, especially the party hosts, is made up of high school students, one cannot expect work to be the absolute priority above both school and family. Although we do try to responsibly to fulfill our duties as employees, we cannot control or predict the future, and sometimes certain events that are prominent in every young man and woman’s life come up. Such events as, Prom, Graduation, College Visits, Funerals, Family Vacations, Extracirruclar Activities, Religious Commitments, etc. This is especially true for the month of May for any and all high school upperclassmen. While we understand the concept that work is not mandatory and if one cannot handle it, then they should not be working, most responsible students need the work experience, funds for college, and money for other prominent expenditures such as vehicles and supplies.

We believe that the former system allowed us to be able to balance all of the aspects of our lives by effectively communicating the dates in which we are unable to fulfill our commitments to work.

We are afraid that the new system does not permit us to have assurance in that our shifts will be covered due to the extremely short amount of time that is given to find a replacement. With the older system, if an employee knew about an occasion that was to happen on a certain future date, we were able to plan accordingly and with more than enough time in advance to ensure that our shift would be covered. Furthermore, due to the complications that may arise with the new system procedure, it seems that no one will benefit. Not only will we miss out on significant parts of our lives, but if an employee is forced to come to work for fear of termination, said employee will not work at their best, resulting in customer dissatisfaction and an overall poor working atmosphere.

A clear instance of this problem becoming a reality is the upcoming date for high school/college Graduation. In Katy ISD alone, ALL schools graduate their senior class on the same weekend. If employees are forced to find a replacement for their shift within the same week, there is no possible way that any employee will find a replacement as we will all be attending our graduations. This is just one example of how the new system may fail, causing more problems than fixing any.

We, the employee body of Altitude Trampoline Park, when hired, agreed upon the terms of the old system, one that worked well and benefited all.

By hereby signing this declaration, we all whose names appear agree upon the statements mentioned above. Together, we represent a motion for change and will stand united in our beliefs. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.
