Bovis Homes are seeking to build 135 homes to the east of Aylestone Hill in Hereford, close to the important Lammas (Lugg) meadow which is a site of special scientific interest (SSSI).
Apart from the damage it is likely to do to this rare meadow, (there are very few Lammas meadows left and the Lugg Meadow is the largest), these houses will massively alter the view of the approach to Hereford, significantly increase traffic and the difficulty getting into and out of Hereford city and make parking for the schools more difficult than it is already.
Hereford Council has rejected this application but Bovis are appealing at a public inquiry in April.
ALMA wishes to support the Council in trying to preserve
this area from yet more development and we would value your support by asking you to sign

I honestly never thought we would see this much energy behind the meadow project and it keeps me up at night wondering if we actually have a shot at winning this. It is wild to think about how many people care about this land and I feel like we are finally starting to make some real noise that the planning people cannot just ignore.

I just looked at the count and we are right on the edge of hitting that first hundred which feels wild because honestly I started this sitting at my kitchen table just hoping someone else cared about the meadow. If you know anyone who hasn't clicked the link yet please throw it their way because walking into that inquiry with a bigger group behind us changes the whole dynamic of the room.

The whole of the Lugg Meadows reference planning application reference; P140963/0 should be denied. I understand that this has been rejected by the Council, I support the Council in this rejection. To lose such an important rare meadow would be shameful.
I object to the building of these homes as the traffic situation, with no by-pass for Hereford, is often at a standstill now and more traffic will only increase the problem. There is also the problem of creating more flooding which we can do without in Hereford.
Hereford's rural-urban fringe is one of the city's great attractions. Bovis' proposal is too great an encroachment into the fringe, especially when large brownfield sites remain undeveloped, for instance the urban site of Whitecross School and the Edgar Street Grid.
This proposed development would irreversibly damage a very rare ecosystem. In addition, allowing building on or near a natural floodplain will cause the residents misery in years to come. the lung needs a natural floodplain which should not be encroached upon
Largest Lammas meadow in the country and Bovis want to threaten it - shameful. Greenfield sites, rather than brownfield, are easier and cheaper for developers to use - in other words profit before environment - they don't care.

My daughter has recently bought a house on Aylestone Hill and my husband and I are so impressed by the beauty and tranquility of Lugg Meadows we are considering moving nearby. A housing development which would ruin this charming area is definitely not where we plan to go!
