At the beginning of the school year we submitted a ratification form for a female's only fitness club on campus. However, our club ratification was denied because it went against school policy,as clubs on campus are required to be inclusive to all students. We are trying to get as much help as possible to have our club approved for next year, as well as we are hoping that the school will provide Female Only hours at the flex centre. Many other universities provide their students with this option, and we think that it's only fair for UOIT/Durham to do the same. As females we recognize how uncomfortable it can be for many of us to work out or exercise in the presence of the opposite gender.

I have been hearing from so many of you about how the gym environment feels lately and it actually makes me feel less alone knowing that I am not the only one struggling with this discomfort. I am currently trying to draft a formal proposal to take to the student union folks because I think they just need to see that this is a real issue for a lot of people and not just me being difficult.

honestly just want to get a workout in without being starred at or having guys hovering over me while i try to use the machines. it gets super gross at the gym sometimes and i just avoid going because of it.

Are all the women's gyms in the city ridiculous? There is a reason. What is ridiculous are the mass amounts of sexual assaults, harassment, and rape that still occur in 2014 and the denial from men that they enjoy privileges for their gender. Women need their own gym to feel comfortable, and that is not at the fault of women.

There should be Men's only hours to then, since there's going to be an hour or two a day when men cant go to the gym, it should be the same for women. allot of people have very tight scheduals and maybe this women only time is also the only time some men would be able to go. #equality
