Since 3/15, the parents of PCES and PCHS students were notified that there would be tryouts for the PCHS JV and Varsity Cheerleading Squads coming up. There was registration and a 2 day clinic. On the third day, after mock tryouts, the girls were then notified that there would not be a JV squad for the 2015-2016 school year. This was devastating news and so disappointing. There were only 4 girls at the mock tryouts, however these are 4 determined, hard working and outstanding students. They were ready to accept the responsibility and set great examples for future students with goals of becoming a cheerleader. We believe that if the 4 girls are willing to accept the challenges, they will be more than happy to participate in all fundraisers, and work hard then they will make up for the small number. We are asking for the girls to be allowed to have the tryouts and have a chance to become what they have been working so hard for. Some of these girls have waited 4 years or more for this chance. We would like to have a meeting with the parents of the 4 girls and the school officials so that we can come to some agreement. If the parents are willing to support the team financially and do what they can, then why not. This is an extra curricular activity that teaches them strength, courage, keeps them off the streets and makes sure their grades are maintained. Parents and students, let's come together and show our support for these determined girls!!!! Stand up for what is right!!!
