Joliet currently does not allow food trucks to serve the public unless they are at large scale events and paying hefty fees to the city. Meanwhile, breweries are opening that do not serve food, and food trucks are used all over the country at places like these to feed patrons who are supporting the local breweries. Joliet needs to take into consideration the fact that food trucks will help their local economy, not hurt it, by keeping more consumers in town for food instead of leaving town where there are many more food choices, as well as breweries that are allowed to have food trucks on premises. Channahon, located right next to Joliet, allows for food trucks to park on private and public property (moving every 90 minutes if on public property) and River Hawk Brewery draws a crowd for both their beer AND the food served out of the truck. Let's get some signatures in front of the powers that be in Joliet and let them know we think it's time to allow mobile food vendors the chance to widen the scope of available food options in town!! With appropriate guidelines for the food vendors to follow and of course compliance with Will County Health Department rules, allowing food trucks in Joliet will only be a positive addition.
