I am a student at saic that overnight access benefitted a lot, but i was especially looking forward to it because i live off campus and if i am not able to have overnight access that it going to make optimizing my time harder

Overnight access is one of the most important times for self sustaining students!

24 hour access was the only reason I’m okay with paying tuition.

As an alumni, it is disheartening to hear that SAIC yet again chooses their bottom line over student experience and success. Students are paying for a world class education and world class facilities, anything else is just false advertising.

This is insane! I know myself and so many students can’t get anything done within these new hours bc of other commitments, jobs, and classes using the spaces

Utterly unfathomable to tell artists they can only be creative during limited hours.

Working a job was manageable when having the option to use the facilities to work on homework.

i’m graduated from SAIC in may, and my time after hours at the school was CRUCIAL to finishing my finals. this is a horrible idea

This is ridiculous, taking funding and then being cheap and gatekeeping it for personal use instead of basic student facilities is disgusting. SAIC shoild be ashamed.

Everyone understands that education funding in this country is under attack, but to throw the quality of the educational experience under the bus is beyond shameless.

this loss of access would seriously impact young artists ability to complete assignments with quality and care, as well as their ability to maintain a full time workload (most especially the students who work). As an alumni of the school, I understand how much access to the studios is integral to succeed and pass classes. Without this access, the schools reputation as an institution that produces developed and skillful artists will be damaged. Without this access, students will struggle to maintain an already intensive workload and the mental health of SAIC student body will diminish. This is a ludicrous position to put both the students and educators in, who wholly desire to see each other succeed, and the school as a whole will vastly suffer because of it.
