I am a parent of an SAIC student. Studio time is a critical component of Art education. Please reconsider changing back to the original schedule or at least provide quantitative data to support why it needs to change.

I’m signing as a parent of a student. Disappointed parents weren’t informed. One of many recent problems with SAIC.

The students should be a school's priority. Commuters need 24hr access!

This impedes cultivating artists. Tuition is paid and you must deliver what once was.

This is seriously wack. Most people work at night because it’s their only other option. The institution already has enough issues, and now this?

As a first year painting MFA, I'm very concerned by this decision. I choose SAIC over other prestigious programs based, in part, on the promise of 24 hour access to a studio space to work. Had this announcement been made when I was making my decision of where to attend I may have made a different choice. The announcement that our studio access would be cut by a third of the hours we previously had, came days after I paid my very expensive tuition. So the timing of this feels very disengenuous.
I am an oil painter and I paint on large canvas. I cannot move my work back and forth to continue working from home. Without late night access to my studio I don't see how the demands or this rigours program (that I am so excited to start!) are remotely possible to meet.
I want to make the most of my time here at SAIC and without overnight access that is not possible.

Over night hours are crucial to our collective creative processes and allow us full flexibility to make our own making schedules according to our needs. We were promised 24 hour studio access during our application process and it was a large draw in the decision making process. There have to be other areas that could take budget cuts to allow for this commitment to be honored. It is incredibly disappointing to have this promise taken away with such little regard for student needs.

These facilities should be accessible to the students who’ve worked hours of their lives tirelessly in the studio here. Our tuition is too expensive to justify this cut to an integral part of this school experience.

Respectfully, our tuition is too expensive to not have 24hour access to these buildings. Access is a need not a want.
