All the Reasons Why we Need 13 Reasons Why is a program started in order to spread awareness about my goal of getting the published book, 13 Reasons Why added into the Health or English High School curriculum. 13 Reasons Why is about a high school student by the name of Hannah Baker who commits suicide. Before she committed suicide, she left behind 13 cassette tapes, each which contained a reason she killed herself. Each tape holds a different topic that today's society is too scared to talk about, such as: self identification, bullying, rape, sexual harassment, cyber bullying, and the possible effects of drinking and driving. You may have heard of the controversial opinions spreading about the triggering topics discussed in 13 Reasons why, but without being properly educated on these major issues, the ones who are suffering in silence, may never feel safe enough to come forward. I will be going up against the school board and your support would be greatly appreciated. This is a great idea Haley and I hope it works out! Even if they don't introduce 13 reasons why into the curriculum, maybe suggest that mental health and the reasons (in thirteen reasons why) should be discussed. To further prevent teens from suffering in silence.
