The Nova Scotia Government just gave all long term care CCAs a 23%raise effective immediately!!!! But not to the rest of the Support Care workers in all other departments who work just as hard under the same circumstances it’s time to Acknowledge the rest of us the Same to “All”
The feedback I have received from colleagues across various departments confirms that the current pay disparity is causing significant morale issues. I am currently outlining our concerns to share with the relevant authorities to ensure that every support worker receives equitable recognition.

The momentum behind this petition highlights a significant need for equity across our care departments. It is encouraging to see this level of recognition for the essential contributions made by all support staff.

Let's get what we deserve for front line worker's, we work hard long hours to keep our loved ones safe. We go over and beyond what is asked of us. Let's see us get an increase in wage, come on we work as hard if not sometimes harder . We deserve to get a raise our bodies are taking a tole on us and we are breaking down.

There is a long list of us experiencing the "strain the pandemic has had" and we all deserve to be shown alot more respect than what we have been! As RCW's we carry out all of the duties that a CCA does and many tasks performed by LPN's... and we are the cook, the cleaner, the program developer, the recreation planner, the financial advisor along with many other things... never mind the fact that we have had counsel our folks in ways that we could have never imagined before... And all without being able to consol them as we normally would. Talk about a slap in the face to the rest of us who have shown up each and every single day to continue to provide care and supports to our elderly and to our physically and intellectually disabled folks throughout this pandemic!!!!

The Health Care system be it Acute or Long Term provides multidisciplinary care. Nursing, Dietary, Laundry, Environmental, Maintenance, Recreational and Various Support Services. These services were all affected with the Pandemic. Changes were made and daily tasks were increased in all facets of care. A select group of care providers should not be rewarded for services given by all. This is a choice made with insufficient knowledge as to the function of daily care as a whole.

It takes more than CCAs to keep long term care running smoothly all workers are equally important really disappointed with government for singling out one department and forgetting the others who work just as hard
