On June 1, 2003 my best friend and her sister were on their way home from a Christian event in Oklahoma City. My friend didn\'t make it home that day. I was visiting her sister who was in a coma a couple of days later at the hospital and I was attending my friend\'s funeral the following Friday. On their way home that day a semi-truck driver heading south bound on I-35 hit my friend\'s car for an unknown reason and forced her off the road into oncoming traffic. Alicia (my friend) was killed instantly. It has been eight months since the accident and I still think about it all of the time. I have been thinking about starting a petition since this accident happened, but decided to today when I passed two collisions on my way home from school. There have been many wrecks on this stretch of highway and a lot were fatalities. Alicia would have celebrated her 20th birthday this past month. I ask that you sign this petition so that some kind of barrier or cable could be put on I-35 so that we can spare the lives of our loved ones. Thank you. \"I am the mother of Alicia Layne. I truly believe that Alicia\'s life might have been spared if there had been cable barriers in place. I do know that many other lives have been lost on the plot of interstate. It\'s not something we can say, yes this needs to be done. It\'s something we must do and do quickly. We can\'t do anything for those that have died, but we can learn something from it and save lives of others by placeing barrier cables. Please help us do this, I assure you, the pain of loosing such a precious child is a high price to pay. I face it each day. Dawn Layne\" *Please sign and forward this to your friends and family*

My name is Retta and I am starting this petition so that we can get some maintenance done to our Interstate. Losing my friend has encouraged me to do this, and now I\'m concerned for my friends and family that travel this road everyday. Collisions happen here almost on a daily basis and I know that this could be prevented.
