As a USC student, I support USC’s responsible development and partnerships with community residents, and I believe that USC’s development can be mutually beneficial for all.
I am concerned about the current lack of affordable student housing, the lack of affordable housing for existing community residents, and the possibility that students will further displace neighborhood families as USC expands in upcoming years.
I urge the Los Angeles Department of City Planning to consider recommended changes to the USC Specific Plan and Development Agreement, proposed by local residents and community organizations, to create significant additional and affordable student housing, preserve and create affordable housing for local families, and minimize the displacement of long-time residents.
Thank you for your attention to this matter and your ongoing work on this issue.

Reaching this point has been an exhausting climb but seeing this level of momentum proves we are finally being taken seriously. I am tired of the silence from the city and this collective push is the only thing that keeps me moving forward.

its getting way to expensive to live around campus. students and local families are getting pushed out and it is not right
STOP THE PRICE HIKES. We need real options for everyone not just luxury apartments for people who dont live here.

Rent is absolutely out of control in this neighborhood. Needs to change or nobody will be able to afford to stay here.
